Blimey .... a diary entry for me!

Hadn't sailed for nearly two months so a few cobwebs got well and truly blown away today....my windiest day ever at Bartley.

Would normally be playing rugby on a Saturday but was sidelined today with a three week old (twisted)knee injury....but thought it would be up to a windsurf session. I was wrong! A normal session maybe but not today.

When I arrived the wind speed jobbie was showing a solid f5 so I conservatively rigged my smallest sail (5m). When I got out it didn't seem enough and wished I'd rigged the 5.7.

However, the wind quickly picked up to solid f6 with gusts much higher. This meant some really hairy overpowered/overfinned runs and soon enough I was getting dumped quite regularly by the gusts, some literally blowing me out of the water......which was bloody cold on the head and and hands!

Re-twisted my knee in one of the falls and as a result quickly realised I could no longer control the board as the wind strength increased. Came in for about five cups of coffee and to warm up a bit. Wind kept picking up! Fitted a smaller 29cm fin and went out for one last hurrah ... but it was no good, the chop was getting bigger and my knee couldn't cope!

Could have been a four star if I'd been fit enough to dominate the board.......and a five if it hadn't been so bloody cold!

Still nice to get a session in before Xmas ...... but won't be sailing in these conditions again unless I'm 100%
